Comparing cable TV to satellite TV is like comparing cassettes to CDs. If you are and you also hate to pay expensive cable television bills Click here Cable TV still utilizes outdated analog technology, while satellite TV uses state-of-the-art digital technology. And that's just for starters.

Here's a comparison of cable TV vs. satellite TV:

Fees for basic cable programming average to dollars per month depending on what company you choose and where you live. In my neck of the woods it would cost me .30 per month to get 64 program channels, and if I wanted to get digital channels I'd have to pay an additional .95 per month.

DISH Network prices start at .99 for 230 satellite TV channels including 60 Sirius radio channels. DIRECTV prices start at .99 for 155 channels including 50 XM satellite radio channels. And both satellite TV providers broadcast all their programming in digital format so you don't have to pay extra for it.

As for price increases, cable fees have gone up 41% since 1998, while satellite TV fees have only gone up only 8%.

Anyone else notice commericals on the XM satellite radio music channels?
When did they start doing this? I have been an XM Satellite Radio customer for a couple years and just recently started hearing commercials on the music stations that used to all be commerical free.

Regarding XM Satellite Radio Subscription: Refresh Channels Prevents Access?
Just noticed that my XM Radio no longer had access to Howard Stern (Channel 100-101). Could this be because I clicked to Refresh my channel list? Anytime I try going to channel 100 in my favorite list, it says ‘UPDATING’ then goes to the last channel. If I scroll through, it skips through it.

This is all within the last ten minutes.

The Howard channels were only a week free trial. If you still want to hear him, you need to by “The Best of Sirius” package.

You’ll only get commercials on the music stations XM gets from syndicators or rebroadcasts from other sources (Casey Kasem etc.) The stations that XM originates are still commercial free.

You should get all the stations.
You may want to contact XM and see if the other stations may need to be turned on.
They should be able to fill you in nad help with your problem.
When we bought our new car we had to search around on the radio to find all the satellite stations.

    Good luck!!
