The Satellite Radio Service Experience

Author: Groshan Fabiola

Satellite radio services have been in the news for quite a while, and the two main providers in the United States have gained millions of subscribers. There are still billions of people who haven’t experienced the difference between a satellite radio system and a traditional radio, though. It may cost a few extra dollars, but satellite radio services offer much more than AM/FM radio.

The most obvious difference between satellite radio services and traditional radio is the hundreds of channels that are available. The two main satellite radio providers in the United States, Sirius and XM, each offer well over 100 channels to choose from. The channels are also practically commercial-free, save for a few station identifications. With so many channels available, the satellite radio services can cater to every niche market all at once. Listeners can peruse music stations from every decade and every genre; whether it’s alternative country or mainstream top 40 or anything else they are in the mood for. There are also news, talk, traffic, weather, sports and other types of entertainment channels.

All those choices do come at a price, but the cost of a satellite radio subscription to Sirius or XM makes it possible for them to offer commercial-free broadcasting. There are also opportunities for consumers to win free satellite radio through great satellite radio sweepstakes on the Internet. Whether consumers win satellite radio or purchase a satellite radio system with a small monthly fee, they will have a whole new world of radio to listen to. Consumers can either choose a monthly or yearly subscription fee to enjoy one of the satellite radio services. Sirius and XM are planning to merge by late 2007 or early 2008 as long as they can get clearance with the FCC. If this occurs, many of the services will probably be universal as well.

Automobile dealerships and manufacturers have also begun offering different types of incentives for consumers to get auto satellite radio. Many car dealers are giving three months or even up to six months of free satellite radio services to get car buyers in on the technology. Having an auto satellite radio allows drivers to get a clear station anywhere they go without switching around, which is safer. Drivers can listen to the same station or hundreds of other stations ranging from news, music and news in better quality than AM or FM bands. To receive the digital audio streams they just need a satellite radio antenna and receiver.

It may soon even be possible for satellite radio stations to broadcast pictures and videos directly to a car or home stereo with digital broadcasting. Receiving a satellite signal is completely digital; and digital signals sounds clean static-free. The satellite radio signal is encoded and sent to the satellite, then sent back to a receiver which decoded and plays the sound. The only reason listeners may lose the signal is because the satellites are traditional on the horizons, and drivers move along the Earth’s round surface. The signal never goes out on a satellite radio system for more than a couple moments, though. And the technology will just continue to improve as time goes by.

What You Should Know About Satellite Radio

Author: David Stone

Satellite Radio has become a very popular alternative to broadcast radio since its first release. It did take a while for the two competitors of satellite radio, Sirius and XM, to begin gaining customers. Equipment was expensive and bulky. There is also a monthly fee for the service, where broadcast radio is free. Satellite does have a few advantages against broadcast that helped it gain momentum more each year. There are very few channels on satellite radio that have commercials. This is very similar to premium cable television like HBO or Showtime...they cost extra but have no commercials. Another great feature Satellite Radio offers is quality that you cannot find in broadcast radio. Satellite radio is a digital signal that sounds cleaner and has virtually no static because with digital signals you either have close to full quality or nothing at all. Satellite also offers coast to coast coverage so you do not have to search for a local station when you travel.

Recent technology moves have helped the receiver end of satellite radio tremendously. Car manufacturers now offer satellite equipment built in to new cars so that there is nothing to buy, just the monthly service fee. Some car companies like GMC only offer XM capability, but many companies offer you to choose either but not both. Car manufacturers also offer much more high end stereos that can utilize the benefits of a digital signal. They use this as a sales pitch to show how good their stereos really are.

Satellite does have new competition that is broadcast for free like analog radio. HD Radio will be broadcast by many local stations in the near future offering better quality than satellite radio. This is much like television stations that broadcast HD TV locally. There are still commercials, but clear sound and music information about artists is available by any HD Radio equipped stereo. Only the future will tell if people are willing to shell out the dough to avoid commercials.

Canadian Satellite Radio: Finally

Author: Scott Fish

In June, the CRTC granted satellite radio licenses to two groups
- the CBC, which is partnered with New York-based Sirius, and
CSR, which is partnered with Washington-based XM.

The federal cabinet has upheld the CRTC's decision to issue two
new satellite radio licenses. As part of the deal, all
applicants agreed to include more Canadian and French-language
material. This is typical of Canadian media regulations and has
made headway for the satellite radio push and representation.
Groups such as Liberal MPs, Quebecers and other cultural groups
did have some opposition to the deal. "In effect, the Americans
have won...This is a black day," said Ian Morrison, spokesman for
the lobby group Friends of Canadian Broadcasting.

Sirius Canada Inc. and Canadian Satellite Radio Inc. (CSR) say
they are pleased. CSR CEO John Bitove said in a statement that
his company intends to be a "proud" representation of Canadian
business and
satellite radio to the Prime Minister, the government
and the country.

As per conditions of the licenses, The Canadian Radio-television
and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) will begin holding
hearings asking for public input on the new commitments. The
decision was made by the CRTC in June however the issue has been
a heated one as cabinet debated whether to uphold it. Cabinet
had the option to approve it, reject it, or send it back for
further review.

As part of the agreement, CSR and Sirius have been forces to
increase the French-language influence and broadcasting. Both
promise to include 8 Canadian channels, which are half English
and half French.

SIRIUS Foresees Serious Growth

Author: Abhishek

Satellite radio service provider SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (SIRI), which was facing bankruptcy just a year ago, is now gradually moving towards stabilization. The company recently stated that it will generate significant subscriber growth in 2010. SIRIUS XM now expects to add 750,000 net subscribers in 2010, much higher than its earlier prediction of 500,000.

SIRIUS XM's business depends to a large extent upon automakers. The sale and lease of vehicles with satellite radios is the most important source of revenues for both the XM and SIRIUS satellite radio services. Improving U.S. economic conditions have resulted in the recovery of auto sector sales, along with better-than-expected consumer spends, prompting management to present a bright picture.

SIRIUS XM added 171,441 net subscribers during the first quarter 2010. This means for all the remaining 3 quarters of 2010, the company should add an average of nearly 12.5% more subscribers. We believe improvement in the conversion rate and a reduction in self-pay monthly churn rate are the main reasons for this optimism.

Furthermore, SIRIUS XM now expects proforma revenue for full fiscal 2010 to be .75 billion in contrast to .7 billion estimated earlier. Proforma adjusted operating income is likely to be 5 million, compared to 0 million predicted earlier. In its first quarter 2010 earning conference call, management forecasted that SIRIUS XM will generate positive free cash flow for full fiscal 2010. Now revised estimates more categorically indicated that free cash flow for 2010 will exceed 0 million.

Earlier in March 2010, SIRIUS XM boosted its liquidity profile by refinancing a part of its .8 billion outstanding debt maturing in 2 years. The company offered 0 million of senior notes with a coupon of 8.75% maturing in 2015. Management is also negotiating with its star performer Howard Stern, whose five-year 0 million deal will come to an end in December 2010.

The Easy Two Step Process For Getting Sirius Satellite Radio

Author: Jim Johnson

You have probably been hearing about satellite radio for a while and of course, lately there has been plenty of news about Howard Stwern setting up shop on Sirius and bringing his fan base along with him. So now you have decided that it's time to get on the bandwagon with this new technology and experience satelite radio for yourself.

If you live in the US you only have two choices for programming, XM and Sirius. In this article, we will discuss Sirius and the things you will need to do to sign up with them and receive their programming signal.

First of all, before you get started, make sure that Sirius is the provider that you really want. This is because once you decide on the provider or service, that will dictate which receiving equipment that you will need to purchase, and most importantly, once you have that equipment you will not be able to use it to change your subscription and receive the other provider's signal. So make your choice wisely here to avoid costly changes later on.

Now that you have definitely decided on Sirius as your satellite radio provider, here are the two simple steps that you need to do to start getting satellite radio:

1. Sign up for a monthly subscription with Sirius. It will cost about .95 a month if you pay on a monthly basis, but you can save money by buying the subsciption annually or even longer. So choose your plan and sign up.

2. Buy your receiving equipment. You will need a receiver and an antenna to start getting the signal. Your regular car radio will not be able to receive satellite radio unles it is specifically enabled for that purpose, so check your manuafcturers material to see about that first.

Before buying though, think about where you plan to listen tio your programming. Will you only be listening in your car? Then you probably only need a car receiver and antenna to get going. Just be sure that your receiving equipment matches the manufacturer of your car's radio. However, if you plan on listening at home too, you may need to get a plug-and-play type of unit that enables you to pull the receiver from your car when you get home and plug it into a home based unit to start receiving the signal through your home audio system. And if you need a portable unit for those times when you are neither at home or in the car, those are available as well. Prices for these units can vary considerably, but by shopping online you can usually get a very good deal on the equipment and have it installed locally if needed.

Once you have the equipment and the subscription, you are ready to start enjoying satellite radio whenever you want. Remember, it's always on and always available wherever you go.

Xm and Bmw Pair Up for the Ultimate Driving Experience

Author: Groshan Fabiola

XM Satellite Radio is the cream of the crop when it comes to the radio listening experience, with millions of American consumers already experiencing the service. Since XM is such a premium radio service, it only makes sense that they are teaming up with one of the top automobile manufacturers. XM Satellite Radio and BMW automobiles are teaming up to create the ultimate luxury driving experience. With XM Satellite Radio in the car, it’s even easier for BMW drivers to cruise the roads without having to switch stations to find a good tune.

One of the reasons that XM Satellite Radio is so complimentary to BMW automobiles is the equipment they offer. The XM Direct is a perfect example of this. This is a portable satellite radio tuner that can easily connect to a satellite-ready radio with an adaptor. New BMWs are either satellite-radio ready or come with a factory installed XM satellite radio tuner, which consumers can choose at purchase time. The XM Direct can also be easily adapted to an older BMW, so smart drivers don’t have to replace their old stereo system to enjoy a satellite radio tuner in their car.

BMW is one of the vehicle makes that is most compatible with the XM Direct, with special adaptors made for their models as well as for the Mini. They permit satellite radio-ready systems and aftermarket in-dash systems to pick up a full XM Satellite Radio subscription service. It doesn’t matter what type of BMW audio system is in the vehicle, drivers still receive the same digital sound. Since BMW is the ultimate driving machine, XM Satellite Radio is a perfect partner. And consumers don’t have to worry about bulky receivers or obvious satellite radio antennas that may take away from the sleek look of their vehicles. The XM Direct easily integrates into an existing stereo system or hides behind the dash.

There is very little difficulty involved in setting up an XM Direct system in most other automobiles, as well. With most factory-installed and aftermarket car stereos it only takes a few adaptor cables to install the satellite radio tuner. These can work with stereo components from major manufacturers such as Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer and Sony. XM Satellite Radio & BMW are the only two companies that have such a successful relationship. XM Radio also easily installs in Chryslers, Dodges, Jeeps, Buicks, Cadillacs, GMCs, Minis, Pontiacs, and Saturns. They do not offer quite as many options, incentives and compatibility, but they do make it possible to receive auto satellite radio from XM without too much trouble.

Anyone in the market for a new BMW may be pleasantly surprised to find free XM with their new vehicle purchase. People who drive older BMWs, which last forever and never go out of style, can also enjoy the easiest installation of XM Direct in their cars to enjoy the same great satellite radio service. These two companies are making it easier to enjoy the best in satellite radio and the ultimate driving experiences all at once.

Why Both Venus And Sirius Are Brilliantly Bright 2010/2012 END

Author: Gary Colin

Why Both Venus And Sirius Are Brilliantly Bright 2010/2012 END

It all began with the Venus and Crescent Moon (January 5, 2008). This is the month that the book about Pharaoh Akhenaten came out and the "lost" Pharaoh city was found www.egyptologiephlus.net/index.php/en/blog. January 8, 2008 was the Mother plane UFO sighting (Stephenville, Texas). I was eventually "led" to a woman named Karina (A Libra-Venus rules Libra). This article will explain why both planet Venus and Sirius are presently shining Brilliantly Northwest. This is the location Venus will transit to in 2012. Orion is presently near Venus and Sirius. The Carina Star Cluster will also be explained.

I have never witnesses Planet Venus shine as Brilliantly as it did on May 11, 2010. It was a cloudy and raining night. No other stars or planets in the sky. Yet there she was. I became very suspicious. Was this actually Venus, a comet, some other star/planet, or was it some type of "space station"? Also, why was this Brilliant light the only visible "entity" in that cloud filled northwestern sky?

This isn't the first time the "planets" have spoken or directed (Psalm 19:1). I still remember the "dark" night that Moon suddenly appeared out the darkness and directed me to Karina. Karina was a South American singer. Ironically the Moon also shone in the Northwest sky that night. Tonight's investigation immediately taught me that planet Venus is currently near Sirius and Orion. I also learned that they are all shining brightly. I also learned that Venus will be at that exact Northwestern location during her 2012 transit > http://www.celestialtimings.com/free_timings/index.html I've already explain the Baalim Crescent Moon of January 5, 2008 (please view my "What was going on in Space when the Universe called" article). On May 10 Venus approached the Horn of the Bull (Taurus) and zodiacally conjuncted El Nath (May 13, 2010). So once again Baal was making His (Her-Ashtoreth) Presence Known. Visit the above "clestialtimings" web address for more info. Most of Earth's Gods are associated with Baal, Ashtoreth, and Tammuz (the Cross of Christ). El Baal being the Father God who died on the tree (cross) and resurrected as Tammuz the Son. In other accounts Tammuz is the Son of Baal and dies on a tree (Ezekiel 8:14). The Father/Son dying and "living again" is the central theme of many Gods (John 3:1-14). The "other side" continues to use various ways to point to 2012 as a significant time for God's Presence.

Please refer to this website for the following information (below) >www.rasnz.org.nz/Stars/EveningSky/May10Sky.html

Some sites informed that Sirius may appear to sign brighter than Venus. Other sites place the brilliance with Venus. The site advised that in May 2010 Venus will appear shortly before or during sunset. As Venus "drifts" into the Northwest, Sirius and Orion will begin to shine brighter.

Let's review the connection between Sirius, the Mayans, Ancient Egypt (Africa), European mythology and 2012.

Depending on which astronomer you research, the Crescent Moon (with Venus) were in either the Scorpius (Scorpio) or Sagittarius constellation (January 5, 2008)-or at least the Ascendant. I learned that the Scorpion killed and overthrew Orion (the Hunter). This is where it gets very interesting. In Bible Prophecy, the Scorpion (Star-Tarot Card #17-Aquarius Age-Revelation 19:1-end) King "falls" from Heaven. This Angel (the Scorpion King) will "free" God's Angelic-Locust (John the Baptist-Elijah-Fiery Chariots of God-UFOs-Revelation 9:7; Matthew 3:4; 2 Kings 2:1-end). This army will then "judge and destroy" Orion's Kingdom (the Hunter's Army-Genesis 10:8-9). The Bible uses words like Cush, Leopard, Babylon, Kings, Beast and other words to destroy this overthrow and destruction (Revelation Chapters 17 and 21). The "truth" is not hidden in the word(s) alone. The truth is hidden in the compilation of ancient history, understanding that God is both "light" and "darkness" (Good and Evil-Isaiah 45:6-7; Job 1:1-10; Job 2:1-10; John 3:14), and how these Biblical words point to God finally "Coming" To End The Age (Matthew 24:3; John 4:24; Matthew 13:10-17).

I recently wrote an article on the Egyptian (African) Dogon Tribe and the Nommos (Gods, Aliens, Space Travelers) who visited them. The Nommos claimed to be from Sirius and the Dog Star constellation. These Angels traveled in fiery ships. In their ancient beliefs, they associated Sirius with the Sun. This is why the Eastern Star of Jesus is associated with the Sun (Eastern Star-Malachi 4:1-8) and Egypt (Matthew 2:1-10). Please keep in mind that the account of God-Messiah occurs in many ancient religious beliefs. The Bible speaks about Orion and Pleiades at Job 38:31. Leviathan is Pharaoh Akhenaten. He is the "Beast" Captain (Judge) of God's Army (Psalm 104:25-27-Akhenaten's "Hymn To Aten" is Psalm 104-Do your research). Notice how God boast about Leviathan at Job 41:1-end. Leviathan is the Pharaoh Dragon of the River (Ezekiel 29:3). Moses was also a Pharaoh associated with the Ark and the River (Exodus 2:1-end; Exodus 7:1-end; John 3:14).

The Syrian Nommos were believed to be a type of "fish people". I notice the Hydra Constellation (the Water Snake) is near the Syrian Constellation. Do you notice how Jesus compares Himself to the Serpent (John 3:14), and God's "Beast Judge (Revelation 17:1)" is associated with the Watery Sea (Revelation 13:1-2; Revelation 17:15).

There is a belief that many of these visiting Angels (Extraterrestrials, Aliens) have bases on the Moon, Mars, and other planets. Planet Mars rules the zodiac sign "Aries". There is a unique connection of Orion with Aries. These are the merciless conquerors of the Cosmos. Mars is the War Planet. Aries is the Sign of Aggression.

I invite every one to read my "Astrological Profile For December 21, 2012".

Are Venus and Sirius Shining Brightly because they are moving closer toward Earth? The Mayans and the Dogons believe that those ancient "Gods of the Sky and the Sea" will return in 2012.

Visit this web site to view the Carina Cluster > http://www.rasnz.org.nz/Stars/EveningSky/May10Sky.html

The Carina Cluster resides near the Crux and Southern Cross. I was also "invited" to the Great Auditorium, New Jersey (Passover 2008) where the electric Cross (Tammuz) shined brilliantly. It's amazing how today I also learned about God's (the Scorpion's) Presence upon Abraham Lincoln. I researched and found that Scorpio (Scorpius Constellation) was indeed connected to Kennedy and Abraham > http://www.biblenews1.com/astrology/acharts/kennedy.htm

A now deceased Minister prophesized that there would be a war between God's Alien Angels/UFOs (the Beast's Armies) and the armies of Earth (Revelation 16: 14-16; Revelation 19:11-21). Many are confused. They are unaware that the Beast is God's Judge (Revelation 17:1; Job 41:1-end). He is the Reincarnated (Born Again) Pharaoh Akhenaten of the Sea (John 3:1-14; Psalm 104:25-27; Ezekiel 29:3-the book of Ezekiel talks about God's flying ships). Those "frog (fish/and other "animal/insect" types)" people are members of God's Galactic Army (Revelation 16:14-16). God is Evil when He Judges (Isaiah 45:6-7). The Judgment upon Job and Jesus exhibited God's "evil" Judgment (Job 1:1-10; Matthew 28:46).

Venus, Sirius, and Orion brilliantly shine as the Hermit's Lamp (Tarot Card # 9-Virgo). God's Angels, Planets, Stars and Spirits incessantly warn planet earth that It Is Coming (Matthew 24:29-44; Joel 2:1-33; Psalm 19:1; Revelation 19:17). Whether it is a comet collision, returning angels, "Jesus", or something else-A Soon End Is Guaranteed.

The Artie Lange Show Featuring Howard Stern!

Author: Robert Ronne

This morning(December 2nd) Artie Lange, of the Howard Stern Show, called in sick...again. Artie calling in sick has become about as regular as a Sarah Palin interview gaff(You Tube: Sarah Palin-Turkey). If Artie was legitimately sick, I sympathize with the guy. Maybe he is suffering from exhaustion after the book signing tour and the interviewing juggernaut that goes with a best selling novel. Maybe he is finding it difficult to juggle the radio show, a stand up comedy act and withdrawing from drugs. Or, worst case scenario, back on the drugs and/or booze. What made Artie's absence stand out this time was the simple fact that for the first time in a while, The Howard Stern Show was better with less.

For the longest period, I felt that listening to Howard had become like listening to a radio show by committee. Howard, with the aide of Artie and Robin Quivers has become a shadow of his former radio personality. For years Stern had suffered through countless interruptions brought on by the opinionated Robin. While Howard has always valued Robin's contribution to the show, you could hear by his tone that talking over "The King Of All Media" during his radio time was frustrating him. Howard being Howard, bit his tongue and carried on like a professional. When the show had just Howard and Robin as the main voice, listening was bearable because the content was always unique...and yes there was Jackie Martling, writing jokes and laughing inappropriately at some tragic news story. Oh yes, and he didn't speak unless spoken to.

Today's show made me miss Jackie. No, he didn't tell great stories or seem particularily interesting. I miss his laugh and the fact that on The Howard Stern Show, less is more. There is one voice too many on the show and that loud voice is Artie. Artie has become the center of attention on this top rated show. Not by natural circumstances but by way of Artie selling himself in all his narcissistic ways. Artie's favourite subject is Artie. Whatever the topic of the moment, the conversation seems to always come back around to an Artie story or in relation to how he was involved. For example, Howard would be talking about his bachelor party and Artie chimes in with a good five minutes on himself and how it was difficult to see other people drinking at the party. WHAAAH! His habit of interrupting the show with his long winded, self promoting diatribe has ruined the flow of what once was a great radio show. Enough Artie! It's time to start listening to what Howard, the star of the show, has to say. None of these obnoxious, loud attempts at being funny are working for you any more. It's time for Howard to realize (and I think he does) that the show is much better without Artie. Sometimes...less is more!

The Facts You Need To Know About Satellite Radio - Part 2

Author: Jim Johnson

In Part 1 of this report, we discussed how the technology of using satellites to broadcast radio signals from over 20,000 miles above the earth results in great reception throughout the US everywhere and all the time. But there is more.

Satellite radio is not free radio. It is subscription based, meaning that you pay a monthly fee for the service. The costs are very nominal though as Sirius costs .95 a month and XM is .95 a month. Neither of the subsciptions can be said to be expensive, but initially you may recoil from thwe idea of paying for something that you have gotten for free for so many years.

However, think about this. You weren't actually getting anything for free all this time. Think of how much time in your life has been wasted listening to ads or commercials on the radio instead of the programming that you tune in for. If you added it all up, it would no doubt be a huge chunk of time, and if your time is worth anything, you were definitely paying a price for tuning in. The radio stations have no other way of making radio broadcasting a profitable business, so you are stuck with putting up with ads for so many minutes of every hour just to be able to listen to the programming you want in between the commercials.

Satellite radio is following the proven business model example of cable television and instead of inundating you with ads, they just provide high quality programming all the time. No ads, no commercials, no wasting your time.

And what kind of programming do you get? Just about anything that you can imagine, and it's growing all the time. Your selections include music, talk radio, sporting events, kids programs, news and more. There are several celebrities that have set up shop in the studios of the satellite radio companies, including the high profile case of Howard Stern. But you can find even more celebrity specific programming from others like Martha Stewart, Jimmy Buffet, Eminem and more.

There are around 65 channels of music listening alone on each provider's service, and they cover almost every conceivable kind of music that is found in the US including rock, jazz, country, blues, reggae, and more. And there are several different kinds of each music genre as well, For instance, rock has channels devoted to hard rock, early rock, soft rock, heavy metal, and many more. Just pick your favorites and tune in for solid good music that you like to listen to wherever you go.
